NVT12000 24V Recovery Winch with Synthetic Rope

The Novawinch NVT12000 is a 24V recovery winch with 12,000lb (5,443kg / approximately 5.4 tonnes) of rated line pull on the first rope layer. Its middle-frame design makes it suitable for 24V recovery vehicles, commercial 4x4s, car transporters, flatbed trailers and other correctly engineered installations.

This configuration includes 26m of 9.2mm synthetic winch rope and an aluminium hawse fairlead, providing a lighter and easier-to-handle alternative to the NVT12000 with steel wire rope.

Designed for 24V Recovery Vehicles and Trailers

The NVT12000 is designed for vehicles and equipment fitted with a compatible 24V electrical system. Its 12,000lb rating makes it suitable for demanding vehicle recovery and trailer-loading applications when installed on an appropriate load-rated mounting structure.

At no load, the winch reaches a first-layer line speed of approximately 12.6m/min while drawing around 40A. At its full 12,000lb first-layer rating, line speed is approximately 2.2m/min with a motor current of around 230A.

26m Synthetic Winch Rope

The supplied 26m × 9.2mm synthetic rope reduces rope weight and is easier to deploy and rewind than an equivalent steel wire rope. The aluminium hawse fairlead provides a smooth surface for the synthetic line as it enters and leaves the mounting structure.

Synthetic rope must be protected from sharp edges, excessive heat and abrasive surfaces. It should be cleaned and inspected regularly for cuts, glazing, contamination and damaged fibres. Understanding the 12,000lb Rating

The stated 12,000lb rating applies to the first rope layer, where the winch produces its greatest pulling force. Available line pull reduces as additional rope layers build up on the drum.

The rating describes pulling force rather than maximum vehicle weight. Vehicle mass, gradient, surface conditions, rolling resistance and the number of rope layers on the drum must all be considered when selecting a winch. Read our guide to winch line pull and drum layers for more information.

Installation Requirements

The synthetic-rope configuration measures approximately 568mm long, 158mm wide and 270mm high. It uses a standard 254mm × 114mm mounting bolt pattern.

Installation should include correctly sized cabling, suitable electrical protection, secure battery connections and a mounting system engineered for the expected loads. The vehicle’s battery and charging system must be capable of supporting the winch’s current demand.

Safe Winching

The NVT12000 is intended for pulling, vehicle recovery and controlled vehicle loading. It must not be used for lifting people or suspended loads. Vehicles and equipment must be secured during transport using separate, approved restraints rather than relying on the winch rope or brake.
