The Novawinch TORO22000 is a compact hydraulic recovery winch delivering 22,000lb (9,979kg) of rated single-line pull on the first rope layer. It is designed for professional recovery trucks, heavy-duty flatbeds, plant machinery and chassis-mounted applications where substantial pulling power is required.

The winch is supplied with 42m of 16mm steel wire rope, a four-way roller fairlead and a heavy-duty swivel hook. Its compact design provides substantial rope capacity while helping conserve installation space on the vehicle chassis.

Hydraulic Performance

On the first rope layer, the TORO22000 delivers a line speed of 7m/min at an oil flow of 75L/min. The specified working-pressure differential is 16.5MPa (2,393psi), with a recommended oil-flow range of 35–90L/min.

The hydraulic system must be designed around the vehicle, duty cycle and intended recovery work. An independent oil supply with a correctly specified relief valve is recommended. Hydraulic installation should be completed by a suitably qualified engineer.

Performance Across Four Rope Layers

The winch stores 42m of wire rope over four drum layers. Rated line pull is highest on the first layer and decreases as rope builds up on the drum. Line speed increases across the subsequent layers.

Where maximum pulling force is required, use the lowest practical rope layer while maintaining the minimum number of wraps specified by the manufacturer.

Built for Commercial Recovery Work

The TORO22000 uses hardened planetary gears, an oil-bath gearbox and cast-steel drum supports. A carbon-steel tie bar helps reinforce the winch structure, while bearings within the planetary gear assembly support efficient power transmission.

A dual balance valve provides controlled hydraulic operation, and the multi-disc brake supports load holding when winching stops. IP67 sealing helps protect the winch against dust and water ingress, although regular inspection and maintenance remain essential.

Steel Wire Rope, Fairlead and Swivel Hook

The included 42m × 16mm steel wire rope is guided by a four-way roller fairlead. The swivel hook allows the connection to rotate, helping reduce unwanted twisting while rigging the recovery.

Choosing the Right Hydraulic Recovery Winch

The 22,000lb rating describes pulling force on the first rope layer. It is not a lifting capacity or a maximum vehicle weight. The force required for a recovery depends on the gradient, surface conditions, vehicle condition and whether its wheels can turn freely.
