What size winch do I need for my quad bike or UTV?
The rule of thumb for powersports is to multiply the vehicle's total weight (including the rider, fuel, and gear) by 1.5. A standard 600lb ATV will need a minimum of a 2,500lb winch, while a heavier 1,500lb UTV or Side-by-Side will require a winch in the 3,500lb to 4,500lb range to safely overcome deep mud suction.
Should I use synthetic rope or steel cable on my ATV?
For ATVs and UTVs, synthetic rope is overwhelmingly the better choice. It is up to 80% lighter than steel cable, which improves the handling and suspension of your quad bike. It is also flexible, doesn't rust, and won't develop sharp metal burrs that can tear your hands when unspooling in the mud.
Will an ATV winch fit my specific quad bike?
Our ATV and UTV winches feature the industry-standard 4-bolt mounting pattern, making them compatible with almost all major brands including Honda, Polaris, Yamaha, and Can-Am. A mounting plate is included.
Can I use an ATV winch on a car trailer?
While our 4,000lb to 5,000lb powersports models can be used to slowly winch light track cars onto trailers, they are primarily designed for the tight confines of a quad bike.
