Winch Accessories & Spares
Winch Accessories & SparesNo. A 24V electric winch requires a 24-volt electrical system (typically a dual-battery setup wired in series) to operate correctly. If you try to run a 24V winch on a standard 12V 4x4 or pickup truck, it will only operate at a fraction of its capacity and speed. You must match the winch to your vehicle by selecting a 12V Electric Winch.
The industry standard rule is to multiply your vehicle's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or the maximum weight of the load you intend to pull by 1.5. For example, if you are regularly recovering 10,000lb commercial vans onto a flatbed, you need a winch with a minimum capacity of 15,000lbs to account for the friction of drag and steep loading angles.
For heavy commercial 24V applications, steel cable is generally preferred due to its superior abrasion resistance when dragging across tarmac, concrete, or industrial debris. However, if weight reduction is a priority for your fleet, heavy-duty synthetic rope is an excellent alternative provided you use protective sleeves in high-friction areas.
When you are pulling massive loads, outfitting a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV), or managing a fleet of industrial plant machinery, standard equipment won't cut it. Our 24V electric winches are engineered specifically for commercial applications where extreme pulling power and extended duty cycles are non-negotiable.
Designed to integrate perfectly with the 24-volt dual-battery systems found on large commercial vehicles, these winches are the backbone of the UK's heavy towing and industrial sectors. (Looking to equip a standard 4x4 or 3.5-tonne recovery truck? View our 12V Electric Winches instead.)
Why do heavy commercial fleets insist on 24-volt systems? It comes down to electrical efficiency. To produce the exact same pulling force, a 24V winch draws roughly half the amperage of a 12V equivalent.
This drastic reduction in amp draw means your winch motor generates significantly less heat. The result? Longer, sustained pulls without overheating the motor, less strain on your vehicle’s electrical system, and faster line speeds under heavy load. If you are operating a fleet of Commercial Recovery Winches, a 24V system provides the relentless durability your business relies on.
