Our polyester lifting slings are for commercial, workshop, automotive and industrial lifting. They're lightweight, flexible and softer on loads than chain or wire rope, and come in two types:
- Flat duplex webbing slings: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 and 12 tonne.
- Round endless slings: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10 and 12 tonne.
Every sling is colour coded by working load limit to EN 1492. All orders come with free next-day UK mainland delivery, or you can click and collect from our Rothwell, Leeds site.
Flat Webbing Slings vs Round Slings
The right sling depends on the load, lifting configuration, contact surfaces and working load required.
- Webbing slings: a broad, flat profile spreads load over a wider contact area, useful for machinery, fabricated components and loads that need a wider bearing surface.
- Round slings: load-bearing fibres inside a protective sleeve make an endless sling flexible enough to wrap around cylindrical, irregular or awkward loads.
Choosing the Correct Lifting Sling
Always select a sling by its stated working load limit (WLL) and how it will be used. Effective capacity changes with lifting configuration, sling angle and whether you use a straight, choke or basket hitch.
Also consider sling length, load shape, edge condition, temperature, chemical exposure and the condition of the sling itself. Never choose lifting equipment by colour alone. Check the label, rated capacity and manufacturer’s instructions before every lift.
Lifting Sling Inspection and Care
Inspect lifting slings before use for cuts, abrasion, damaged stitching, heat damage, chemical attack, contamination or an unreadable identification label. Remove any damaged sling from service and assess it against the manufacturer’s guidance and your lifting equipment inspection procedures.
Sharp edges and abrasive surfaces can damage textile slings, so use suitable edge protection where required.

What do the colours on polyester lifting slings mean?
The colours on a lifting sling indicate its Safe Working Load (SWL) under European standard EN 1492. For example, violet denotes 1-tonne, green is 2-tonne, and yellow represents 3-tonne capacities. Always verify the manufacturer's label before lifting, and pair your slings with certified Recovery Shackles for secure rigging.
Should I use a flat webbing sling or a round endless sling?
Choose a flat webbing sling for spreading the weight evenly across fragile or wide loads. Alternatively, opt for round endless slings when you need superior flexibility to choke around awkward, cylindrical machinery. Both options are much safer for delicate payloads than heavy-duty Load Binders or steel chains.
Do lifting slings require LOLER certification in the UK?
Yes, under the UK's Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER), all slings must undergo a thorough statutory examination every six months. Using uncertified equipment is illegal and highly dangerous. Ensure your entire setup remains compliant by checking your Bow Shackles and attachment hardware regularly.
When should I condemn and replace a polyester lifting sling?
