STINGER 12,000lb 24V Recovery Winch with Steel Wire Rope

The Novawinch STINGER 12000 is a 24V recovery winch with 12,000lb (5,443kg) of rated single-line pull on the first rope layer. Part of the STINGER series, it is designed for suitably equipped recovery trucks, car transporters, plant trailers and 24V off-road vehicles.

This model comes with 26m of 9.2mm steel wire rope, a four-way roller fairlead and DUO wired/wireless control. Steel wire rope provides good resistance to heat and abrasion, making it suitable for regular vehicle recovery and loading work.

Key Features

Steel Wire Rope and Roller Fairlead

The included steel wire rope provides durability for vehicle recovery and loading work. The four-way roller fairlead guides the rope as it enters the drum from different angles, helping reduce friction and unnecessary wear.

Inspect the rope before each use and wear suitable gloves when handling it. Do not use rope with broken strands, severe corrosion, crushing, flattening or permanent kinks. Use a suitable rope dampener and keep everyone clear of the loaded line.

24V Electrical Requirements

The winch must be connected to a suitable 24V electrical system with correctly sized batteries, cabling, isolators and circuit protection. Installation requirements depend on cable length, expected loads and the vehicle’s electrical arrangement.

Electrical installation should be completed by a suitably qualified installer using the current instructions supplied with the winch. Allow appropriate cooling periods during demanding or repeated pulls.

IP68 Protection and Upgraded Construction

The STINGER series uses an IP68-rated enclosure, cut-steel planetary gears and automatic mechanical braking. Premium electronics and circuit-breaker protection help protect the electrical system during operation.

The control pack can be repositioned to suit different installations, while machined tie bars and stainless steel hardware provide a robust mounting structure. Regular inspection and maintenance remain essential, particularly after wet, muddy or dusty use.

DUO Wireless and Wired Control

The included DUO controller operates wirelessly at a range of up to approximately 50ft (15m). When a wired connection is preferred, connect the supplied 3.9m cable to the same DUO controller and plug it into the winch.

This provides wireless and wired operation from a single controller, allowing the operator to choose the most suitable control method for the recovery.

Choosing the Right Recovery Winch

The 12,000lb rating describes pulling force on the first rope layer. It is not a lifting capacity or maximum vehicle weight. Available pull decreases as rope builds up on the drum, while the force required depends on the gradient, surface conditions and whether the vehicle’s wheels can turn freely.
