Motorised Jockey Wheel & Electric Trailer Mover Range

Most electric jockey wheels require a compatible 12V DC power supply. This may be a leisure battery, vehicle battery or another suitable 12V source, depending on the model. The battery and cables should be capable of supplying the current required by the mover, so always check the manufacturer's electrical specification before use.

Electric jockey wheels generally perform best on firm, level surfaces such as concrete or tarmac. Performance may be reduced on loose gravel, soft ground, wet grass or uneven surfaces because the drive tyre can lose traction. Trailer weight, nose load and surface conditions should all be considered before use.

Some electric jockey wheels can operate on gentle inclines, but the maximum permitted gradient varies by model and trailer weight. Steeper slopes increase the load on the motor and reduce available traction, so the manufacturer's rated gradient and load limits should always be followed. For steeper or more demanding situations, another method of controlled trailer movement may be more suitable.

Many motorised jockey wheels are designed to fit common jockey-wheel mounting arrangements, but compatibility depends on the clamp size, mounting position and individual product design. Check the dimensions and fitting requirements before purchase, and follow the manufacturer's guidance on whether the unit should remain fitted during towing or be removed after manoeuvring.
