PRO16500 PRO MAX 24V Recovery Truck Winch – 16,500lb

The Novawinch PRO16500 is a 24V recovery truck winch with 16,500lb (7,484kg) of rated single-line pull on the first rope layer. Part of the PRO MAX series, it is designed for demanding vehicle recovery and loading work on suitably equipped recovery trucks, flatbed trailers, low loaders and agricultural vehicles.

This model comes with 28m of 12mm steel wire rope, a stainless steel roller fairlead and a waterproof wired handheld remote. The 3.9m remote cable allows the operator to control the winch from a suitable position with a clear view of the recovery.

Steel Wire Rope and Roller Fairlead

The 28m steel wire rope provides reach for vehicle recovery and loading tasks. The four-way roller fairlead guides the rope as it enters the drum, while correct alignment and careful winding help prevent rope damage and uneven build-up.

24V Performance and Electrical Requirements

On the first rope layer, the PRO16500 delivers a line speed of 1.1m/min at its full 16,500lb load, drawing 180A. At no load, it has a line speed of 6.2m/min and a current draw of 50A.

These are operating figures, not a guide to cable or fuse sizing. The installation requires a suitable 24V supply, battery capacity, cabling and electrical protection. Electric winches require cooling periods during demanding use, so follow the operating instructions supplied with the winch.

Built for Commercial Recovery Work

The PRO MAX series combines a metal exterior with cut-steel gears featuring deep engagement teeth. Its welded steel drum uses a machined large-diameter spline to transfer power through the drive system, while the automatic brake is housed inside the gearbox.

IP68 protection helps protect against dust and water ingress. Regular inspection, cleaning and maintenance remain important, particularly after wet or muddy recovery work.

Choosing the Right Recovery Truck Winch

The 16,500lb rating describes pulling force, not a lifting capacity or maximum vehicle weight. Available line pull decreases as rope builds up on the drum. The force required for a recovery also depends on the gradient, ground conditions and whether the vehicle’s wheels can turn freely.

This winch is designed for pulling and recovery, not vertical lifting. Use suitable independent restraints to secure a vehicle or load for transport.

Wired Control and Optional Wireless Operation

The included waterproof wired remote has a rubber controller, metal plug and 3.9m cable. For compatible DUO or radio remote operation, add the PRO MAX remote adaptor and the appropriate remote equipment. These are sold separately.
