The Novawinch NVT18000 is a large-frame 24V recovery truck winch with 18,000lb (8,165kg / approximately 8.2 tonnes) of rated line pull on the first rope layer. It is designed for demanding vehicle recovery, transport and trailer installations requiring a powerful electric winch with a long steel wire rope.

Supplied with 25m of 13mm steel wire rope, a four-way roller fairlead, waterproof wired remote and hook, the NVT18000 provides a complete winching package for professional installations.

Built for Recovery and Transport Applications

The NVT18000 is suited to recovery trucks, flat-bed transporters, plant trailers and other specialist vehicles with a suitable 24V electrical system. Its large-frame construction, cut-steel planetary gears and deep 516:1 reduction ratio provide controlled pulling performance under heavy loads.

The 25m steel wire rope provides useful reach when loading vehicles or recovering equipment. A four-way roller fairlead guides the wire rope as it enters the drum from different angles, helping to reduce unnecessary contact and wear.

24V Performance and Electrical Requirements

On the first rope layer, the NVT18000 has an unloaded line speed of 4.2m/min and delivers 1.0m/min at its full 18,000lb rated load. Motor current is listed as 60A with no load and 260A at full first-layer load.

These figures are operating values, not recommendations for cable or fuse sizing. Installation must use a suitable 24V power supply, batteries, isolation equipment and correctly specified cabling. Electric winches require cooling periods during demanding or repeated operation, so always follow the operating instructions supplied with the winch.

Rated Line Pull and Rope Layers

The stated 18,000lb rating applies to the first layer of rope on the drum. Available pulling force decreases as additional layers build up and increase the effective drum diameter.

The rated line pull describes pulling force, not the maximum weight of a vehicle that can be recovered. The required capacity also depends on gradient, surface resistance, vehicle condition and the recovery arrangement. This winch is intended for pulling and recovery, not lifting or suspending loads.

IP68 Protection and Automatic Brake

The all-weather metal exterior is rated to IP68, helping protect the internal components against dust and water ingress. This does not remove the need for regular inspection, cleaning and maintenance after wet, muddy or corrosive working conditions.

A mechanical automatic load-holding brake helps control the rope drum when winching stops. The pull-and-turn clutch allows the drum to be disengaged so the wire rope can be pulled out manually before a recovery.

Wired Remote Control

The supplied waterproof handheld remote has a 3.9m cable, allowing the operator to control the winch from a position with a suitable view of the rope, vehicle and recovery area.

Operators must remain clear of the tensioned wire rope and never step over or stand in line with it. Wear suitable protective gloves, use a winch-line damper and inspect the rope, hook and fairlead before each operation.

Installation and Compatibility

The winch measures 642mm long, 215mm wide and 288mm high. It supports 254mm × 114mm and 254mm × 165mm mounting patterns. Confirm the available installation space, mounting structure, electrical capacity and rope clearance before ordering.
