The Novawinch NVT10000 is a 12V electric winch for compatible 4x4s, vehicle trailers and general recovery work. It delivers 10,000lb (4,536kg) of rated single-line pull on the first rope layer and comes with 26m of 9.2mm steel wire rope.

Part of the Novawinch T Series, this middle-frame winch combines a series-wound motor with three-stage planetary gearing. A four-way roller fairlead guides the wire rope, while the waterproof handheld remote provides wired control through a 3.9m cable.

Steel Wire Rope for Recovery and Trailer Work

Steel wire rope is a practical choice for recovery and loading applications where abrasion resistance matters. The supplied roller fairlead guides the rope as it enters and leaves the drum, although keeping the pull aligned with the winch remains important for even spooling.

Controlled Pulling and Wired Operation

The pull-and-turn clutch allows the rope to be paid out manually when the winch is unloaded. Once the clutch is engaged, the wired remote controls powered operation. The automatic brake helps hold the load when winching stops.

The brake does not replace transport restraints. Secure vehicles and equipment independently after loading, and use the winch only for pulling and recovery, not lifting or suspending loads.

12V Performance and Installation

First-layer line speed is approximately 6.1m/min with no load and 1.6m/min at the rated 10,000lb pull. Current draw increases from approximately 80A with no load to 380A at full rated pull.

The installation therefore needs a suitable 12V battery supply, correctly sized cables and secure electrical connections. Follow the supplied instructions for circuit protection, mounting and operating intervals, allowing cooling time during demanding work.

The winch measures 568mm long, 158mm wide and 260mm high. Check the mounting pattern, available space and access to the clutch before ordering; the bolt pattern alone does not confirm that a bumper or mounting plate is suitable.

Choosing the Right Winch Capacity

The 10,000lb rating describes pulling force on the first rope layer. Available line pull decreases as rope builds up on the drum, and the force needed for a recovery depends on the slope, ground conditions and whether the vehicle can roll freely.

Outdoor Use and Maintenance

IP67 protection helps resist dust and water ingress, but the winch still needs regular cleaning, inspection and maintenance. Follow the operating instructions after use in mud or wet conditions, particularly around boat ramps and salt water.
