The Novawinch NVT15000 is a large-frame 12V recovery winch with 15,000lb (6,804kg / approximately 6.8 tonnes) of rated line pull on the first rope layer. It is designed for demanding vehicle recovery and trailer installations requiring high pulling capacity from a 12V electrical system.

Supplied with 28m of 11.5mm synthetic rope, a four-way roller fairlead, waterproof wired remote and hook, the NVT15000 provides a complete winching package for suitable professional and specialist vehicle installations.

Synthetic Rope for Easier Handling

The supplied 28m × 11.5mm synthetic winch rope is considerably lighter and easier to pull out than steel wire rope. It also avoids the sharp burrs and broken wire strands that can develop on an ageing steel cable.

Synthetic rope still presents a serious hazard when placed under tension. Always use a suitable winch-line damper, keep everyone away from the recovery area and inspect the complete rope before every operation. Do not use a rope that has significant cuts, melted fibres, severe abrasion or damage to its termination.

Built for Demanding Recovery Applications

The NVT15000 is suitable for recovery vehicles, trailers, 4x4s, agricultural equipment and other specialist installations with an adequately specified 12V electrical system. Its large-frame construction, cut-steel planetary gears and 516:1 reduction ratio provide controlled pulling performance under demanding loads.

The supplied four-way roller fairlead must remain smooth and free from scoring, burrs or sharp edges that could damage the synthetic fibres. Inspect every roller before use and ensure each one rotates freely.

12V Performance and Electrical Requirements

On the first rope layer, the NVT15000 has an unloaded line speed of 3.8m/min and delivers 1.0m/min at its full 15,000lb rated load. Motor current is listed as 95A with no load and 380A at full first-layer load.

The high full-load current makes correct electrical installation essential. The winch requires a suitable 12V battery system, correctly specified cabling, secure terminals and appropriate isolation and protection equipment. These operating figures must not be used by themselves to determine cable or fuse sizes.

Electric winches also require cooling periods during repeated or prolonged operation. Follow the installation and duty-cycle instructions supplied with the winch.

Understanding Rated Line Pull

The stated 15,000lb rating applies to the first layer of rope on the drum. Available pulling force decreases as additional rope layers build up and increase the effective drum diameter.

Rated line pull describes pulling force, not the maximum vehicle weight that can be recovered. The required capacity also depends on gradient, rolling resistance, ground conditions, vehicle condition and the recovery arrangement. This winch is intended for pulling and vehicle recovery, not lifting or suspending loads.

IP68 Protection and Automatic Brake

The all-weather metal exterior is rated to IP68, helping protect the internal components against dust and water ingress. This does not remove the need for inspection, cleaning and maintenance after use in wet, muddy or corrosive conditions.

A mechanical automatic load-holding brake helps control the rope drum when winching stops. The pull-and-turn clutch allows the drum to be disengaged so the rope can be pulled out manually before recovery begins.

Waterproof Wired Remote

The supplied waterproof handheld remote has a 3.9m cable, allowing the operator to control the winch from a position with a suitable view of the rope, vehicle and recovery area.

Operators must remain clear of the tensioned rope and never step over or stand in line with it. Confirm the winch-in and winch-out directions before beginning a recovery.

Installation and Compatibility

The NVT15000 measures 642mm long, 215mm wide and 288mm high. It supports 254mm × 114mm and 254mm × 165mm mounting patterns. Confirm the available installation space, mounting structure, electrical capacity and rope clearance before ordering.
