The Novawinch HW200 is a heavy-duty hydraulic recovery winch with 20,000kg of rated single-line pull on the first rope layer. Commonly described as a 45,000lb-class winch, it is designed for large recovery vehicles, defence vehicles, heavy plant and demanding industrial applications.

The HW200 combines a 70L/min hydraulic oil-flow requirement with a compact drum arrangement, pneumatic clutch and standard rope tensioner. Its four-layer drum can accommodate up to 60m of 22mm wire rope.

Hydraulic Performance

At a nominal oil flow of 70L/min, the HW200 has a specified first-layer line speed of 3.5m/min. Its working-pressure differential is 17MPa (2,465psi), and the recommended oil-flow range is 30–90L/min.

The installation requires an independent hydraulic oil supply with a correctly specified relief valve. The hydraulic system, hoses, fittings and controls must be selected for the vehicle, expected loads and operating duty. Installation should be completed by a suitably qualified hydraulic engineer.

Performance Across Four Rope Layers

The winch drum accommodates up to 60m of 22mm wire rope over four layers. Available pulling force decreases as rope builds up on the drum, from 20,000kg on the first layer to 14,203kg on the fourth layer.

Where maximum pulling force is required, use the lowest practical rope layer while maintaining the minimum number of wraps specified in the operating instructions.

Built for Heavy Recovery Applications

The HW series is designed for demanding industrial and commercial work. The HW200 is suited to large recovery trucks, heavy plant, defence vehicles and other applications requiring substantial hydraulic pulling force.

Pneumatic Clutch and Speed Selection

The pneumatic clutch operates with an air pressure of 1–8 bar and a specified ventilation volume of 1L/min. The winch provides normal-speed, neutral and high-speed selector positions.

Follow the operating instructions when engaging the clutch or changing operating mode. Do not alter the specified wire-rope payout direction without approval, as the direction is linked to the winch configuration and braking system.

Wire Rope and Installation Requirements

The drum is designed for 22mm wire rope with a maximum capacity of 60m over four layers. This HW200 is supplied without wire rope, hook or fairlead. Please contact us if you require these items as part of your installation.

The rated pull describes horizontal pulling force, not lifting capacity or maximum vehicle weight. This winch is not intended for lifting people or for use as the sole means of securing a vehicle or load during transport.
