A 24V electric winch runs from a 24 volt electrical system, the standard on HGVs, larger recovery trucks, tilt-and-slide transporters, plant and many commercial trailers. Choosing the Right 24V Winch
Don’t size on vehicle weight alone. Rolling resistance, gradient, tyre condition, whether the load rolls freely, drum layers, mounting and how often you’ll winch all affect the pull required.
- Recovery trucks and commercial vehicles: common on tilt-and-slide trucks, transporters and other 24V commercial vehicles. Match capacity to the heaviest realistic loading conditions.
- Low loaders and heavy haulage: plant, machinery and non-runners on steep ramps, or tracked equipment, can need substantially more pull. Consider the full loading setup.
- Plant and agricultural: suitable where plant, farm equipment or specialist trailers have a compatible 24V supply.
- Electrical system: the battery, alternator, cabling, isolators and connections must handle the winch current.
Steel or Synthetic Rope?
Steel wire rope resists abrasion on steel decks, ramps and rough surfaces. Synthetic rope is lighter and easier to handle for many recovery and loading jobs. Choose by working environment, maintenance and the winch specification.
